				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://i.ytimg.com/vi/Ta_7N8N7bpc/2.jpg" align="left">Nanotechnology, the new science of extreme miniaturization, is a rapidly growing field in engineering. On this size scale, it is extremely difficult and expensive to fabricate analogs of macroscale engineering, such as grippers. Drawing inspiration from biological fabrication in nature, engineers are seeking to self-assemble structures from the bottom up. This manufacturing paradigm has been largely unexplored in human engineering since the process is generally perceived to be indeterminable and uncontrollable.</p>
<p>The Gracias Lab at Johns Hopkins has developed a relatively easy, precise, and cost-effective process by which the 2D templates of semi-tethered &#8220;faces&#8221; can self-assemble into controlled 3D structures by utilizing the natural phenomena of surface tension. This video highlights the development, manufacturing process, and proposed functions (cell encapsulation devices and controlled drug delivery carriers) of our self-assembling nanoliter containers.</p>

A brief overview is given on the contents of a &#8220;Nano School Box&#8221; and four experiments on coating are carried out.<br />
Experiment 1, Lotus Effect &#8220;do collect different botanical leaves and apply drops of water to them &#8230;&#8221; is done the short way for this trial by searching the plants at google and putting their pictures together. The printout is laminated and lotus coated so that in the test it really shows the lotus effect. As a result even in this way we learned that the lotus plant is not alone with it&#8217;s effect.<br />
Experiment 2, hydrophobic coating of wood, is done seriously and the included spray provides a hydrophobic coating.<br />
Experiment 3:  hydrophobic coating of textiles, is a good chance to check the wardrobe for old neckties. I found one for which I would not find a good occasion to wear.<br />
A different coating from the set provies a coating for textiles. Drops of water on the coated necktie sparkle like diamonds with the reflection at the air gap between the water and the cloth.<br />
Experiment 4:  magic ink, a hydrophilic coating to avoid fog on the windshield. To visualise the effect a dish is partly coated and breathed upon, it works. </p>
<p>Nanotchnologie Experimentierkoffer<br />
Es wird ein kurzer Überblick über den Inhalt der &#8220;Nano School Box&#8221; gegeben vier der Experimente werden durchgeführt.<br />
Experiment 1, Lotus Effekt &#8220;sammeln Sie verschiedene Pflanzenblätter &#8230; und lassen Sie Wassertropfen auf die Strukturen tropfen&#8221; wurde beim Ausprobieren abgekürzt indem die Pflanzen bei Google gesammelt und ihre Bilder zusammen ausgedruckt werden. Der Ausdruck wurde laminiert und mit einer Lotusschicht versehen, so dass beim folgenden Test tatsächlich ein Lotuseffekt zu sehen ist. Es ist immerhin erstaunlich, wie verbreitet der Lotuseffekt auch bei anderen Pflanzen ist.<br />
Experiment 2, Erzeugen einer hydrophoben Oberfläche auf Holz wurde für die Aufnahme ernsthaft durchgeführt. Das Mittel erzeugt eine hydrophobe Oberfläche wie es sich im Vergleichstest mit einem unbehandelten Stück zeigt.<br />
Experiment 3, Erzeugen einer hydrophoben Oberfläche auf Textilien, ist eine gute Gelegenheit den Kleiderschrank nach einer alten Krawatte zu durchsuchen. Es fand sich (mehr als) eine die kaum zu einem anderen Anlass passen würde. Das entsprechende Mittel erzeugt eine gute Schutzschicht. Durch die Luftschicht zwischen der Krawatte und den Wassertropfen glitzern diese wie Diamanten.<br />
Experiment 4:  Zaubertinte für Glas &#8211; Erzeugen einer hydrophilen Oberfläche (Anti-Fog). Zur Demonstration des Effektes wird eine Glasschale teilweise beschichtet und angehaucht, es funktioniert.</p>
