<p>Piezoelectric Flow Pump Prototype, based on oscillatory principle.<br />
It consists in a bimorph piezoelectric actuator with a thin plate (fish tail shaped) applied over it.<br />
The bimorph piezoelectric actuator generates oscillatory motion under an electrical input of controlled frequency and amplitude.<br />
The oscillatory motion is &#8220;amplified&#8221; by the thin plate and generates the fluid (water) flow.<br />
The application of the thin plate promoved a flow rate (cc/min) increase up to 40% in some cases, when compared to the performance  of the bimorph actuator by itself.<br />
During the experimental characterization phase it was noticed a great influence of the prototype channel profile over the water flow and consequently over the fluw pump performance.<br />
Due to its characteristics, that are low pressure and average flow rate, this kind of flow pump is basically applied on micro scale.<br />
Many tests, with different thin plate shapes were conduced. The best results were found with the thin plate presented in this video.</p>
<p>Protótipo de bomba de fluxo piezelétrica baseada no princípio oscilatório.<br />
Composto por um atuador piezelétrico bilaminar e uma carenagem em cobre (formato de cauda de peixe) colocada sobre o mesmo.<br />
O atuador piezelétrico gera movimentos oscilatórios sob a excitação de uma tensão elétrica de freqüência e amplitude controladas. Estas oscilações são &#8220;amplificadas&#8221; pela carenagem e produzem o deslocamento do fluido (água).<br />
O ganho em vazão(ml/min) obtido pela aplicação de uma carenagem chegou a até 40% em alguns casos, quando comparado ao desempenho obtido somente com o atuador bilaminar em operação.<br />
Durante os ensaios percebeu-se uma grande influência do formato do canal no escoamento do fluido e portanto no desempenho da bomba de fluxo.<br />
Este tipo de bomba tem como característica básica baixa pressão e vazão mediana (considerando sua aplicação em projetos de pequena escala).<br />
Foram realizados testes com diversos formatos de carenagem sendo a configuração de melhor desempenho mostrada no vídeo.</p>

<p>Bringing Nanomotion from Israel to Japan,  Daito Electron is importing the HR Ultrasonic Motor Series which is a piezo ceramic servo motor that actually uses the reverse piezo electric effect to create linear and circular motion.</p>
<p>Piezo electricity is when certain crystals become charged due to mechanical stress such as compression, twisting or distortion.When reversed, an electrical charge that is applied to piezo electric crystals cause them to distort at the nano level. Though this is a small change it is useful for precision motor controls and ultrafine optical focusing.<br />
A single element in the HR series creates 4 Newtons of force and up to 8 elements are available with a force of 32 Newtons.<br />
The speed can range from several microns per second to 250 mm per second and has an unique braking design that doesn&#8217;t cause any shift in position while stopped.</p>
