Micro-Clasp in action
admin | Sep 24, 2008 | Comments 0
This is a device we call the Micro-clasp that we developed in our lab at UIC – Univ. of Illinois at Chicago. It is a monolithic (single piece) compliant mechanism with a structure that has been mathematically designed to efficiently transform micro-scale actuation to obtain the action seen. The device is microfabricated on a single crystal Si wafer using DRIE (Deep Reactive Ion Etching). This work was awarded First Prize in the ASME 2008 Student Mechanism Design Competition
