Micro Machines Go Wild for Utah Running Utes!

A MEMS (micro electro mechanical system) device designed by University of Utah students and faculty to tap into charge injected by an electron microscope as a new form of “Kinetic Micro Sculpture”. Under electron beam illumination, the U (about the same size as the diameter of a silky-fine hair on your head) appears to “blink” on and off, and the pennant spontaneously waves back and forth.
