WITec Microscopy Workshop

Event Details:

Start date : October 19, 2010
End date : October 19, 2010
Location : Leatherhead
Organized by : LOT - Oriel

Event Description:

LOT invite you to our WITec
microscopy workshop
at the LOT offices in Leatherhead on Tuesday 19th October
2010. This is an ideal opportunity to see an alpha300R (with fast imaging option
and 532/785nm lasers) first hand and meet a WITec technical specialist. The
morning will start with an introduction and overview of the WITec modular range
and it’s applications followed by a demonstration in the afternoon. A full agenda
is available to download below.

Delegates are invited to bring samples along on the day (time permitting).
If you would like to do this please let us know in advance and we will forward
you a sample form to complete.

The confocal Raman microscope alpha300 R offers the unique ability to acquire
chemical information non-destructively with a resolution down to the optical
diffraction limit (~ 200 nm). This allows you to observe and analyse the distribution
of different phases within a sample in ambient conditions without specialised
sample preparation. Because of the confocal setup, it is not only possible to
collect information from the sample surface, but also to look deep inside transparent
samples and even obtain 3D information.

The WITec microscopy series features scanning probe as well as high resolution
optical and Raman microscopy techniques in either a single instrument or combined
system configurations for the highest flexibility throughout a wide range of
microscopy applications. For example, it is possible to start with Confocal
Raman Microscopy and upgrade later to Atomic Force Microscopy or vice versa.
With such a combined instrument, chemical information can be directly linked
to structural AFM information from the same sample area using only one instrument.
For high-resolution optical information, the system can even be equipped with
SNOM capabilities.

microscopy workshop
is free of charge and will include lunch and refreshments.
As spaces are very limited, you are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
