On behalf of the 2010 CCMR Symposium Organizing Committee, I am pleased to
invite you to attend the 2010 CCMR Annual Symposium which will take place at
Statler Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, on May 18, 2010.
Research within the CCMR focuses on developing a fundamental understanding
of advanced materials to predict and improve their properties. Much of this
research focuses on designed materials with one or more nanometer-scale dimensions.
The materials and methods developed within the center have applications across
a broad range of disciplines, with many related to energy and sustainability.
This year’s program will reflect the current interest on the design of functional
materials via the controlled assembly of nanostructured building blocks.
The newly established Sproull Lecture, endowed by former Cornell Vice President,
CCMR Director and Physics Professor Robert L. Sproull and his wife, Mary Sproull,
will take place during the Symposium. Professor Christopher Murray, Richard
Perry University Professor of Chemistry and Materials at The University of Pennsylvania,
will be the first Sproull lecturer. The Symposium speakers will include Dr.
Graciela Blanchet, Chief Technology Officer at Nano Terra Inc., Cambridge MA,
and distinguished faculty and student speakers from Cornell University.
The symposium will include presentations showcasing recent advances at Cornell
and in industry and will also feature the ever-popular poster session highlighting
our entire research portfolio, our graduate students and postdocs.
